BankFirst named corporate sponsor for Oktoberfest
NORFOLK - Once again, Norfolk will celebrate its proud German heritage during the final weekend of September with its second annual Oktoberfest. And this year, a corporate sponsor will help take the event to the next level. Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dennis Houston announced at a news conference Tuesday morning that BankFirst will lend its name to the festival for the next three years. BankFirst President Clark Froelich says his organization is proud to sponsor the family celebration which is slated for Friday and Saturday, September 27th and 28th. Events include a 13-mile family bike ride, a kids’ zone midway on 7th Steet, and a beer brewing exhibition by the Norfolk Home Brewers Association. Several other events will be happening in the Norfolk area that weekend including the Lions Club parade, the Riverfest Art Festival at Johnson’s Park, the antique car show in Pierce and a concert featuring 1980s rock band Foreigner at Divots. A free shuttle bus service will circle the area and make stops at the venues and area hotels.
