Aurora police chief dies after motorcycle crash

AURORA, Neb. (AP) - Aurora's police chief died two days after a motorcycle crash on Interstate 80.  Aurora Police Chief Godfrey Brokenrope died Saturday evening at a Lincoln hospital.  Brokenrope had been hospitalized ever since he crashed his motorcycle Thursday on I-80 near Seward.  A Nebraska State Patrol spokesman says Brokenrope was unable to stop his motorcycle quick enough when traffic slowed, and he crashed in the median.  Aurora Mayor Marlin Seeman says Brokenrope had been chief since 2006. Previously, he had been a police officer in Grand Island, Aurora and the military.  Seeman says Brokenrope was committed to the community and the department.
