Antelope County Man Accused of Double Murder Moved to Lincoln

NELIGH - A Ewing man accused of a double murder in Antelope County has been moved from the Madison County Jail to the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center at the Department of Corrections in Lincoln. Antelope County Sheriff Bob Moore says 33-year-old Matthew Hinrichsen was moved Wednesday. Moore says the move was an administration decision made by the sheriff and Antelope County Attorney Joe Abler. Hinrichsen is accused of first degree murder in connection with the deaths of Victoria Vargas and Gabino Alex Vargas Granillo. Their bodies were found in a burned trailer east of Ewing on December 8th. Hinrichsen is scheduled for arraignment in Antelope County District Court at 9 a.m. Wednesday, January 30th. He faces two counts of first degree murder, two counts of using a firearm to commit a felony and one count of first-degree arson. Funeral services for Victoria Vargas will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in her hometown of Missouri Valley, Iowa. A funeral mass for her husband was held Wednesday evening at St. Peter Catholic Church in Omaha. The funerals were delayed until Nebraska authorities released the bodies.
