7-Century Bike Ride A Success

About 155 riders took part in the 7-City Century Bike Ride over the weekend - covering 100 miles and visiting all seven communities in Madison County. Cheryl Johnson was one of the organizers for the event, a fundraiser for improvements to the Cowboy Trail. She says riders spend Saturday night in Newman Grove, and the community really put out the welcome mat for them. Johnson says the majority of the riders spent the night in the school gym, but some camped in the city park. She says the weather was close to ideal - except for some south winds Saturday afternoon that made the ride from Tilden to Newman Grove a challenge. The riders left TaHaZouka Park on the south edge of Norfolk early Saturday morning, and most were back in the Norfolk park enjoying pizza by noon on Sunday.
