2000% Increase in City Building Permits

NORFOLK - The valuation of new building permits in the city of Norfolk is up 2000-percent compared to this same point in the fiscal year a year ago. That’s what Prevention Manager Trent Howard told members of the Norfolk City Planning Commission this morning. He said the building permits include nine new single family houses, as well as several commercial construction permits. Howard says, at this time last fiscal year, the increased valuation from building permits in the city was $725,606. This year, building permits have been obtained for more than $17-million in new construction, additions and improvements. Howard says that is the biggest year-to-year increase he has seen, and he suspects it is the largest in the city’s history.
