Power Outage Affects LiteRock 97.5 Broadcasting Abilities

WAYNE - Crews from the Northeast Nebraska Public Power District in Wayne continue to face challenges in trying to access areas in order to knock ice off power lines. The ice has contributed to power outages across its service area including the transmitter facilities for LITEROCK 97.5.. In a phone message to customers Friday evening, General Manager Mark Shultz said many secondary roads remain difficult to access because of snow -- and it could be days before power is fully restored. He says power crews from other parts of the state have been called in to assist. Shultz says area emergency management coordinators have also been contacted to help set up shelters for people who need it. According to its web site, Northeast Nebraska Public Power District serves approximately 85-hundred retail electric customers in Pierce, Thurston, Wayne, Dixon and Dakota counties. It operates about three thousand miles of electric lines and over 100 miles of high voltage transmission lines. Officials with Northeast Public Power have worked very hard to keep service to the LiteRock 97.5 transmitter operational so we may communicate important information to the public and NEPPD's customers.
