9:00 am - A Full day Flame Weeding Workshop, will be held Wednesday August 21st , at the Haskell Ag Lab, University of Nebraska, Concord, NE. Propane fueled Flame Weeding is an acceptable method of weed (pest) control in organic farming, which is also gaining interest among conventional producers due to increase in weed resistance and costs of GMO crop seeds. Proper flaming to control over 10 major Midwestern weeds in 7 agronomic crops will be covered. Workshop is limited to 30 people. 9:30am - 2:30pm - The Northeast Nebraska Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council and the Northeast Nebraska Weed Management Area will host a free workshop on noxious weed control on Wednesday, August 21 at the Niobrara State Park Lodge, Niobrara. The event is open to the public and begins with registration at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude by 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
