Behind the scenes, and just as important as the voices you hear on the radio, are those other individuals who work on the WJAG, KEXL & KQKX team and keep things running smoothly from day to day!
Sally Lewis - Local Sales Manager
As one of 16 children, Sally learned early on how to think on her feet and be a survivor. A native of Northeast Nebraska, Sally began her career with WJAG, KEXL and KQKX in 1979 after being "discovered" while giving a speech to the Norfolk Noon Rotary Club. She started out in advertising sales where she continues to serve today as Director of Sales for our Nebraska Stations. She is active in various civic groups including the Women's Division of the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce, where she served as President in 1993-94. She takes an active role in Sacred Heart-St. Mary's Catholic Church and Sacred Heart School.
Jean Schmeckpeper - Account Executive
Jean joined the staff of WJAG & KEXL in September 1989, working part time in the traffic and bookkeeping department and filling in for employees on vacation. In January 1992, she spent some time working as a sales representative while one of the sales people was on leave for a few weeks. Later that year she was asked to split time between her clerical duties and sales. In late 1993, Jean began working in her current position as a fulltime account representative.
Kelle Korth - Account Manager
Way out in Ogallala, Where you can HOOP and HOLLER...that's where this gal is from. Kelle' Korth, raised in the Sand Hills, now has lived in the Norfolk area for almost 20 years. Born in Colorado, Kelle' moved to Ogallala, NE when she was 7 and has been in Nebraska ever since. (Just can't leave this wonderful Nebraska weather...) As the mother of 4 wonderful children, Kelle' stays plenty busy with bowling, volleyball, dance practice, wrestling, gymnastics, teaching Sunday school and just making sure everyone gets where they need to be. Kelle' has been in sales for over 20 years and is extremely excited to serve our advertisers everyday as an Account Manager for WJAG, Inc Stations.
Barb Descombaz - Account Manager
Barb was raised in Norfolk and attended Norfolk Catholic Schools. Barb began her career at WJAG Inc. Stations in 1981 and worked in territorial sales for 25 years, then went on to pursue other ventures. After 5 years, Barb returned to these radio stations in November of 2010 and now serves as an account manager in the Norfolk , Columbus and Albion areas. Working in the advertising field has always been fun and rewarding to Barb and she enjoys meeting new people and being out and about every day. Barb attends St. Pats Catholic Church in Battle Creek, where she and her husband Vern reside. Barb is member of several area chambers as well as the Norfolk Chamber . In her spare time, Barb enjoys family, music, dancing and friends.
Marci Pierce - Office Manager/Bookkeeper
Marci began her career with the stations in 1976 as a member of our clerical staff. Over the years she learned the commercial traffic and bookkeeping systems. She helped the stations make the jump to the computer world in 1983. She continues as a valuable member of our radio team in the capacity of office manager.
Denise Reikofski - Traffic Director
Denise takes care of our commercial traffic departments for WJAG, KQKX & KEXL. Denise must take each advertising order and process it through our computer traffic system to be certain commercials play for the right client, at the right time and on the right days. Denise joined WJAG, KEXL and KQKX in 1992.
Leanne Silhacek - Office Assistant
Leanne started at WJAG, KQKX and KEXL part time in 1995, and became full time in 1997. Leanne is most likely the person answering the phone if you call in. She is involved with the usual office duties and helps with the stations website updates of Community Calendar and Grain Markets, and also tracks our prize winners. You may even hear her voice on commercial ads. Leanne originally hails from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, but now considers herself at home in Pierce County.
Paul Hughes - Associate News Director
Paul Hughes has served as Associate News Director for News Talk WJAG since December, 2012. He is a native of Battle Creek, a graduate of Wayne State College and a 24-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He began his broadcasting career in 1985 at KTCH in Wayne before joining the Air Force in 1988, where he served around the world as a part of Air Force Broadcasting and the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service. He spent most of his military career overseas, including tours in Korea, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, England and Turkey; he also served stateside in Maryland and Utah. Paul is a veteran of deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan and has filed stories from Qatar, Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan, Iceland, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. He and his wife Maria Nieves, a native of Zaragoza, Spain, have two sons: Joshua, 19 and Andres, 15.
Dave Williams - DJ
Dave grew up out in the country in upstate New York in the heart of dairy country. He started riding horses when he was 5 and had a few other animals around the spread from sheep and rabbits to ducks and goats. The radio bug bit him at an early age and he started working in Canton, NY while in high school back in 1992. He loves sports and has even been an Arena DJ for Division I College (St. Lawrence University) & FHL pro hockey teams (1000 Island/Watertown Privateers & Watertown Wolves) and dabbled in Public Announcement work for the PGCBL’s Watertown Rams and NCBL’s Watertown Bucks. In his spare time, he writes a monthly Country Music column for Fourth Coast Entertainment Magazine and also enjoys concerts, movies, spending time with his family and traveling.
